The Club exists to promote the art and skills of Woodturning. It is the
premier Woodturning Club in Northampton with some
90 members, and provides a friendly gathering of experienced and
novice Woodturners. There are several lady members.
Meetings are held regularly on the first and third Wednesday of every
month from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm in Weedon Village Hall,
which has a large car park.
There is a modest annual membership fee, supplemented by a charge
for attendance at meetings, and an optional raffle. There is no charge
for initial attendance.
The usual meeting format is for a guest turner, or one of our
experienced members, to demonstrate their skills in a variety of ways.
Some meetings are arranged for practical experience known as
' Hands On ' where members are able to take part, using one of the
club's eight lathes.
Periodically we hold an all day Saturday event
from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, and for these we usually
invite professionals to demonstrate their own specialality.
The charge for these meetings includes a buffet lunch.
We also run a shop which carries a varied stock of woodworking
accessories. Wood from local sources is available from time to time.
There is also a a library with books and DVD's for the use of members at
a nominal charge.
The Club is fully insured.
